CRIMESTOPPERS HELP THE FIGHT AGAINST CRIME IN ASTON
POLICE in Aston are set to receive a major boost in the fight against crime as a Crimestoppers co-ordinator arrives in the area, thanks to funding from a local regeneration scheme.
The new CRIMESTOPPERS post, which is dedicated to serving residents living in Aston and the surrounding area, will be responsible for increasing awareness about CRIMESTOPPERS and promoting the benefits it can bring to the local community.

CRIMESTOPPERS is an independent charity, which works to help find criminals and solve crime. The charity provides the means to detect, reduce and prevent crime through information given anonymously from members of the public.
Residents in Aston, who wish to remain completely anonymous, will be encouraged to contact CRIMESTOPPERS if they have information about crime in their area.
The new post represents a major boost for the area, as it will increase awareness about the crime-fighting charity, giving members of the public more options in how they wish to report crime.
Working in partnership with local police, the CRIMESTOPPERS co-ordinator will be running campaigns throughout the next 18 months, promoting the crime-fighting charity within the local community, and offering messages of reassurance.

CRIMESTOPPERS received funding for the new post from Aston Pride New Deal for Communities, which is a local regeneration scheme dedicated to improving the lives of those living in the Aston area.
Police in Aston welcome the arrival of the CRIMESTOPPERS co-ordinator and believe it can only help in making Aston a safer place to live. Acting Inspector for the area, Mark Powell, said, "We are pleased to work in partnership with CRIMESTOPPERS, to make Aston a safer place to live and work".
This represents another opportunity for the local community to become involved in local policing issues.
Pauline Hadley, who is the Regional Manager for CRIMESTOPPERS, said, "We are empowering the community to help themselves by phoning us with information about criminals".
If we know more about local criminals, it will increase the likelihood of them being taken off the streets and reducing crime in the area.
